La Joya, TX - Years of dedication, perseverance, and passion for the game have earned one La Joya High School student-athlete the opportunity to continue competing at the collegiate level.

Surrounded by family, teammates, coaches, and school leadership, La Joya High School proudly celebrated senior soccer standout Aidaliz Chapa as she officially signed her letter of intent to Jarvis Christian University, where she will continue pursuing her passion for soccer while working toward her goal of becoming a registered nurse.

“I feel excited! It’s going to be a new chapter of my life and I am really happy to go and play at the college level,” said Chapa. “My family, my coaches, and my friends have always supported me. Everyone is here for me to see me take this next step.”

According to Chapa, the opportunity came after Jarvis Christian University coaches discovered her through game footage and reached out to recruit her.

“Jarvis Christian University saw me playing in a video and they liked what they saw, so they reached out and that is why I have this opportunity,” said Chapa. “I am excited for this next chapter because I get to keep playing the sport I love and meet new people who share the same passion for soccer.”

La Joya High School Girls Soccer Head Coach Eugenio Milla reflected on Chapa’s growth and impact throughout her four-year varsity career.

“This is the pinnacle of a four-year varsity career for Aidaliz,” said Milla. “Since she came from Dr. Javier Saenz Middle School, she has displayed top qualities in playing and earned a spot on the varsity squad right away.”

Milla praised Chapa not only for her athletic ability, but also for the leadership and example she set for her teammates both on and off the field.

“She has always been a great asset for our team with very good technique and attitude,” said Milla. “She was all-district defensive player of the year this season and newcomer of the year during her freshman year. She is a very talented soccer player, a great student, and a great teammate. Seeing her sign to a university because of her talent and skill in soccer makes me very proud.”

The signing ceremony highlighted La Joya ISD’s continued commitment to developing student-athletes who excel academically, athletically, and personally while preparing for success beyond graduation.

This milestone aligns with the district’s strategic plan, Achieving Excellence Together: 2030, by supporting Priority 2: Empowered Graduates through meaningful opportunities that prepare students for college, career, and life success.

La Joya ISD proudly celebrates Aidaliz Chapa as she embarks on this exciting new chapter. Her accomplishments reflect the dedication, resilience, and support system that helped shape her journey - from coaches and teammates to family members, teachers, and the entire La Joya ISD community. As she continues her academic and athletic career at the collegiate level, she carries with her the pride, spirit, and excellence of La Joya ISD.
